I am an atheist. I do think we should be allowed to post here. It bugs me when others say that we don't deserve to be here, or that we are hypocrites for posting here. My girlfriend/co-worker V E R Y stupidly drank and drove and was arrested....for the second time earlier this year! She is obviously freaking out, and told me recently that she is dealing with thoughts of suicide after being told by an female acquaintance in a court mandated DUI cl that "pretty girls like you have an especially rough time. Hi, weird question, I know, but I'm writing a short fictional piece for a cl and one of my characters gets shot through the heart. I tried researching a cause and effect (a step-to-step guide (for lack of a better word) of the process when something like that occurs) but to my dismay, the internet failed to provide me with some helpful info. I would like my story to be as real as possible and not like anything Hollywood has pertained, so I just want to know if it is possible for a person to survive with a bullet through the heart. I live and work in London. The majority of people I p (between the ages of 16-35) in the street can be easily pidgeon-holed as a fashion sterotype. First of all i thought it was very bad that they had JR sleep with Annie I hope that Marissa doesn't find out he shouldn't of cheated on her even if it was to get back at Annie. I like JR and Marissa together but lately their story line has been kind of boring. I don't know about any of you, but i thought it was kind of crummy the way Adam ended his time on the show. They knew he was retiring they should of had something more for him like a going away party on the show it was dumb how Brooke just came back on the show and suddenly they both leave together. It won't be the same without Adam. What is up with Kendall and Zach? She was suppose to come back on the show for awhile and yet they only showed her a few times and Zach was only showed for a couple days. Did she decide not to come back like she had planned? Well my nails would never grow but you know I started to take good care of them without spending much. I only bought the miracle grow polish I think thats the name not sure. You can find it in WalMart or Target and just put it on every day and trim the ends of your nails but let them grow though just trim the ends so that they get a good nice shape and you'll see how in one week they will grow a lot. Yes I am a Reiki Master Teacher, and it started amazingly, as I am very intutive and have deep spiritual connections, I found a book on Hypnosis and Reiki in an old book store, and in that book the name of the reiki symbols were mentioned, and their various uses for different diseases, but the symbols were not there. Even at that time I do not know how to operate computer. Than one day I am sitting near my dinning table watching the jug which was full of water, than i saw a face in that jug, and it was like watching TV. I tried to recall all the faces of the people I know in my past or have seen on Tv, but could not recognized him who he was. As I became aware of the picture it vanished from the jug. It was a strange experience for me. The other day my heart craved to go to some book store, therefore I went in the old book shop, and there was a book on Reiki, it was the first book I took out from the bookshelf, and as I turned it there was the same picture of that man I saw in the water jug, and He was Master Usui`s picture. I read that book with interest, and as I have no access to any reiki teacher I forgot about it, and my only son left for abroad, and for communication with him I learnt internet from one of his friends. And I surfed the net for Symbols, and I started drawing them on paper countlessly, and one day I was reading three months old news papers, where I read an advertisement of Reiki cl, with a phone number. Thanks God the cl was still on, and they were offering free healings on Thursdays, after attending two three cless and learning to meditate, I thought of my hip pain, and asked the Master to give me reiki. He asked one of his old students to give me distant reiki, as being muslim a man is not allowed to touch women, who is not his spouse. And that fellow just looked at me, and told me that he had build a cord and reiki will continue to flow , and i be healed from my fifteen years hip pain, and it was such a mirical happend to me that I slept so comfortible without any pain, and walking became so easy for me. This miriculous healing experience led me to get attunements, and deep knowledge about this Divine Energy. The reason it's dry clean only is because of the silk. Silk sucks in water & stretches out easily when wet. You really should get it dry cleaned, but if you absoluely can't afford to dry clean it, wash it by hand & lay it flat to dry. If you hang it from a hanger, the heavy amount of water in the silk will stretch it out & ruin it. Silk should never be put away dirty because sweat & deodorant can eat through it.

My sister is getting married in April. I'm helping her to plan it. She's not having it catered and the grooms aunts will be doing the kitchen work. hello, I am currently in the Air Force rotc program and I am not contracted. I am at a cross town school so I do PT 3 times a week with the Army. I think vegetarians/vegans are less susceptible to illnesses. A persons diet has a lot of input on one's health. Ever since I became vegetarian I have not gotten a cold and this is coming from a person that would take months to get over a cold. Fiat Punto Engine Whistling?

I have an X reg punto that's done around 75000miles, its had relatively few problems through the 10 years, but recently had to have the head gasket changed. When we got the car back from the garage after having the work done we found there was a faint whistling. We took it back and the garage said they found nothing (if they checked at all - we have gone elsewhere since). More recently the whistle has been getting louder and louder. It seems to happen when the engine is roughly at half temperature and between 2000 and 2500rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. There is no real problem with this (no warning lights, no loss of power etc), its just very annoying. I have checked all the connections I could find for things like hose connectors etc and all seemed tight and yet no improvements. Any ideas would be great.

I think most of us can think of several high profile Asian sects. So I started to join the dots both with how people in my Aikido group seemed to act in a kind of unquestioning, worshipful way. It started to concern me that many of the 'energy' practices and meditations were having a negative effect on many of the members, many of whom seemed to exhibit strangely aggressive cult like tendancies. I am not saying there is anything wrong with these things in themselves, just that I believe such things can be used for good or bad ends (as sects have often done). Above this I felt that those who wanted to become the 'warrior' as it were, should look elsewhere. Which is why I have looked into grappling arts with great sucess and satisfaction. Anyhow what do you think about this 'martial art'?

A question about lumber...?

I would like to buy lumber, ideally 1/4"x4"x6', but I can go as thick as 1/2"x4"x6'. Width has to be 4" exact, length has to be minimum 6'. The only cut I can find at my local home improvement store is 1"x4"x6'. Can the store (Lowe's/Home Depot) cut the 1" lumber down to 1/2" or even 1/4" thickness? I am buying poplar, if it makes any difference.

I just need opinions here. I have a friend who has been a breeder of long haired german shepherds for over 20 years. Well...she's been getting ill a lot lately and I was getting a puppy from her and she has asked me if I would be interested in taking one of her older dogs being as she doesn't want them to go to "just anyone" she trusts me and since she has been ill (she has one kidney and the other hasn't been doing so well) she thinks she should downsize a bit to give herself some more time to rest and recuperate as well as even more time to spend with the dogs she is for sure keeping. I'm thinking of taking one of the older dogs (she's 1) and giving up the puppy she selected to a new home. Do you think I'm doing the right thing by trying to help her out and make things easier on her? Opinions please.

California King snake question?? Please Help?

My king snake has not been moving much the last 3 days and constantly stays burrowed (not her typical behavior, usually very active). At first I thought she was shedding but it’s been longer than normal and her skin has not started peeling. So, I picked her up and she didn't feel as firm as she normally does. I'm really worried and nothing in her tank has been out of the ordinary. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong and should I take her to the vet? I already would have taken her but a reptile vet is over 100 miles away from where I live. Please, someone with some knowledge and or experience on the matter help me.

4 month old fell off bed?

i was on my bed and my 4 month old son puked on me so i put him down to take my shirt off.He rolled over and fell off the bed.He fell on his head and ended up on his belly.He cried for a few minutes then he was back to normal.Im paranoid now that he is hurt.It doesnt seem to hurt him when you move his head.He overall seems fine.But inside i feel horrible and worried.His head is nto swollen but one spot is a little red.Its been a hour or 2 now,and hes a bit fussy.should i worry and bring him to the er?

How can I stop the drainage?

I currently have strep throat. I beleive one night my drainage formed into boogers on the roof of my throat. The drainage continues to run down the booger and not out my nose. I keep blowing but nothing every comes on the cleanex. Everytime I swallow a large amount of thick snot is swallowed. I was in a relationship since July 07 with a man. I tried to leave him many times, but never did, as he was persistent, threatening suicide, displaying rage apologetic then rage and apologetic again. He has a history of marijuana and cocaine use, and in June 08 was in a mental institution for three weeks for "being a threat to himself and others". He is on antidepressants (on and off), unemployed since Feb 08, went on welfare, then sick benefits and was homeless (now living with his sister). I found out 3 weeks ago that I am almost 4 months pregnant with him. I told him, he promised to change, get a job, apartment, etc but hasn't shown any progress. I got the police involved after i got tired of his constant calls, emails, he ruined my reputation at work/family/friends and was constantly threatening to kill me. I lied to him and told him that I had an abortion so it'd be easier for him to leave me alone. If he'd know, he'd make my life hell and cause unnecessary stress problems for the baby. I am happy I have support from my family, I just need him to disappear from my life. The baby doesn't need a deadbeat rollercoaster dad that constantly talks about killing himself or someone that he feels mad at. MY QUESTION IS: If I bump into him one day, and he finds out I had the baby, what can he do, in terms of custody? Will withholding this from him affect me if he decides to take me to court for custody etc.? What can I do to protect myself and the baby from him to make sure he'll have no rights to the child? What can I do now to be able to prove to the courts that I am a fit mother for the child in terms of living conditions etc? Also, he is still occasionally emailing me and calling, but I don't want to call the cops, because if they throw him in jail, there will be a trial following. I don't want to show up in court with a belly for him to see. Any thoughts on that? Any advice would be wonderful from anyone. Thank you so much I appreciate you guys helping me out here. PS. Positive mantoux, child care center...HELP!!!!?

I have a history of negative mantoux tests, decades. In mid-August I had a negative mantoux, and then last week I had a mantoux test for another job. I had immediate intense itching, eyes burning, scratchy, developed hives on my neck on the car ride home. I have gone to an infectious disease dr, they did AFB cultures, when can I get the results? My current job, started in September is at a daycare center, w/ +/-100 children and >100 families involved. Employees are not required to have mantoux tests in child care centers in MN. I am very concerned someone is spreading TB at the child care center, but the health dept. is not!! I have had very little contact with anyone other than the children and employees there. Kids (some adopted from russia, india, etc)and adults have been coughing since I started working there. Was it the allergic reaction that caused the positive TB test, or a booster effect, or? If you have kids in child care centers, make sure all workers are screened!!

How do I install sheets of plywood to make a cargo box in the back of my pickup truck?

well you need to get wood that fits in the pockets of your box usually 2x2's you might have to shave them down a little making sure that they go to the bottom of the pockets. figure that distance plus two feet put all six in (for a long box 4 for a short box) get 3/4inch plywood for the sides for the sides cut it at 2 foot and bolt it on to the 2x2's for the front put a piece in that matches the sides and sets in the bottom of your bed use 90degree brackets screw these in to the side and front 3 places on each side for the rear put a piece of ply wood a little wider than the bed on top and tight on the bottom you can put this one in with the 90's or get tail gate hardware they are called side boards you might have to shave the sides down a little on the back to get the tail piece in hope this helps

ok I started dating this guy yesterday. I've known him since kindergarten (we're in middle skool now) so when he asked me out I said sure cause I thought I knew him. Such as vodka, rum, Bourbon. I think drinking is a turn off but it seems more lady like a woman drinking bubbly drinks than hard drinks. Priests, Catholic marriage and weddings?

You can have your wedding 'convalidated' by the Catholic church at a later date. If you google this you will find out the steps to do it. Basically it legitimatizes a marriage in the eyes of the church 'after the fact'. I feel your frustration, seriously, because I have been going crazy trying to figure out what kind of ceremony to have. I was raised Catholic, but my fiance was not, and we considered having a married priest (www.rentapriest.com) perform our ceremony so we could incorporate his traditions as well and make the ceremony a little more familiar to his Protestant family. In the end, we decided to go with a Catholic ceremony in the church after all, because it's important to me, important to my family, etc. and his family is pretty easy going about religion.... But I really appreciate the difficulty of pleasing two sets of parents, and most of all having a ceremony that is meaningful to you. But anyway, getting the marriage convalidated at a later date could be an option in your case. We considered this too at one point. good luck!

An implied requirement for employment is that the applicant be able to commnicate to others and understand what is said to them. If a person is unable to understand the language and requires an interpretor, that person doesn't qualify for the position. This isn't discrimination. It's practicality and sometimes a matter of safety. I have someone like this at my place of employment - can't understand and can't be understood. Always misunderstands and gets angry. Doesn't want to understand. We DO have to use an interpretor and this isn't always comvenient nor possible. The only reason this person is still employed is because they've been there for so long. It's a "mercy" job.

My horse jerks his head up when I take off his bridle...?

My horse suddenly has this problem of jerking his head up when I take off his bridle! I thought he might have had a sore mouth the first time he did it but it persisted even after i gave his mouth time to heal. We have had an equine dentist out and she says everything looks fine. The vet has looked at him several times sense this starting occurring. This wasn't that big of an issue until one day he threw up his head and I was thrown against a fence. I had severe bruises on my back, I couldn't bend over, and I couldn't pick up anything heavy for a couple of weeks. Now I'm almost scared to take off his bridle.... Please help.

Confused husband needing advice?

hello all, my wife and i have been fighting for the last couple weeks about her being controlling. She tells me that i need to stop cussing. i cuss on occasion, not much, and she tells me when me and our son are together i cant listen to rock and roll music and it has to be country, nothing else...grr, but anyways then she tells me that i have to live a christen lifestyle by joining groups and all, and im not really interested in that. (i love going to church). She also has alot of health issues and iv missed countless hours of work, always risking to be fired. She also goes to counceling and she wont tell me why. All of this stuff is wearing very thin on me. Iv been misrable and a little depressed from all the fighting and nothing has been resolved, im sorry icant be the husband she wants me to be but i try my hardest to have a roof over our heads and a meal everyday. Everyone from her brother inlaw tells me to leave to my own mother, does anyone have any helpful advice?

there is a guy I know 4 years from school, and he keeps sending me mixed signals. Everything began 3 years ago when he sent me a note telling me he likes me. Doctor couldn't hear hesrtbest, worried? ?

I am 12 weeks pregnant, I will be 13 on Monday. My Dr tried to hear the heartbeat wth a Doppler but couldn't find it. I saw the baby at about 7 weeks and that was it. I'm so scared. I haven't had any bleeding, a little cramping but nothing unbearable so I figured it was normal. My symptoms completely disappeared after the ultrasound at 7 weeks. I go on Monday for one to see if everything is ok. I'm soo scared and I'm literally in tears. Its my first pregnancy and I just want everything to be ok. But I figure at 12 weeks, she should be able to hear it. She said she heard movement or something but it's not good enough. Is this normal tto not hear the heartbeat? Maybe I'm stressing because I just don't feel pregnant anymore. I've been crying all day. I'm just afraid there will be nothing on the ultrasound. I might just go to the ER tomorrow. Did anyone experience this? I need some encouragement or I'm going to go crazy :(

I absolutely love to play my The Sims 2. One thing struck me, though: I can't find a way to homeschool. In the Sims 1, you can keep your children at home and have them read books from the bookshelf. Now, there is no choice but to send them to school. This kind of messes up several of my scenarios (for instance, I have one neighborhood that has different periods of history contained in it; it wouldn't be accurate to have a 15th century child going to school in a bus :P). Since bones tens of millions of years old have been unearthed, I am wondering if they decay at all. If not, then huge amounts of calcium and phosphorus are being removed from the environment and deposited in the skeletons of animals and humans, from where they are never returned to the environment. Can your job pressure you into buying a cell phone for business purposes?

The job is Fedex Freight. They don't provide a cell phone for their employees nor is it in the requirements for being hired. However, they keep pressuring me to get a cell phone because they feel you need to call your customers prior to delivery. I can't afford a hefty unlimited plan and that is what I would need. I used to have a cell phone but couldn't pay the bill because my job rang it up with all the calls. The job would call me nonstop, as well as other drivers, customers and everyone the job felt need to give out my number to and I would get yelled at if I didn't answer or respond to the calls. I had an unbelievable cell bill that I couldn't pay, I had to cancel with a $200 cancel fee with the cell company on top. Now the job wants me to get another one but they aren't going to pay for it.
