Green wedding etiquette question?

My sister is getting married in April. I'm helping her to plan it. She's not having it catered and the grooms aunts will be doing the kitchen work. She doesn't want them to have to be in the kitchen all night doing dishes so we decided to do biodegradable paper plates, recyclable plastic cups and cutlery and recycled napkins. The venue can't sell booze so they are providing the set-ups, and people can bring in their own in addition to the keg and wine that she will have provided. So we will have a ton of garbage. We will be using biodegradable plastic bags in the garbage cans. We would like to tell the guests that there will be separate bins for the plastic and gl recyclables. Is it weird to put a little card on each table saying as such? I'm thinking a little card that says something like...we are trying to do our part to keep our wedding as eco-friendly as possible, please throw your plastic and gl in the designated bins. Thank you. Please give suggestions.
