What kind of fish is that fish on Finding Nemo?

I think it's a grouper. That's a generic fish so go with it. I once was looking at a grouper at an exhibit and it actually turned it's eye and looked at me. A fish that makes eye contact. I was taken aback because making eye contact for a fish is unheard of. At least I've never heard of it.
